Dr. Joe's Philosophy

MOVEMENT IS LIFE; LIFE IS MOVEMENT

Humans have a desire to move. This movement comes in many forms: daily living, recreation, work, sport, and hobbies. As such, movement fulfills us mentally, physically, and perhaps spiritually. Pain and suffering can interfere with this fulfillment. The pain can be new (acute) or old (chronic). My life long medical career has focused on relieving all pain in all patients, to keep them moving.

My approach to chronic pain is to listen, listen, listen, and then listen some more. I then perform a physical exam, and together, we develop an individual plan to return to a level of movement and function that is fulfilling. My passion is treating chronic pain with image-guided therapies. Chronic pain may stem from any combination of joint, muscle, tendon, ligament, or nerve. By utilizing x-ray and ultra-sound guided images, I am able to inject precise anatomical locations.  I use medications such as: local anaesthetic (Lidocaine), steroids, Hyaluronic Acid, prolotherapy, and platelet rich plasma (PRP).  When appropriate, I will “burn” the nerves, also known as an ablation. These therapies can stimulate healing in chronic injuries, and an ablation can prevent the nervous system from transmitting pain signals.

It is my honor and privilege to help facilitate improved movement and fulfillment in the lives of my patients.
